Today is..

Bennett was done with preschool on Tuesday, so instead of going to the center daycare, he is going to his 'old' daycare--Erin's. We love (LOVE, LOVE) her daycare. Erin's daughter Emry is about 6 months younger than Bennett and have been the best of friends since we started going there.

Yesterday was his first day back at Erin's and it didn't go as well as expected. Bennett decided because he is a boy and Emry is a girl they can't play together and he doesn't want to be her best friend anymore. I was very upset on the way home after I found out how he treated Emry and told him that if it didn't go better today I was going to find him a new daycare (and I was serious-- I WAS MAD.) He was crying, throwing a fit, screaming, etc. After he calmed down, I explained to him he had one day to prove he was a nice friend.

So....this is my conversation with him this morning:

Me: Bennett, time to get up for daycare.

Bennett: Okay, Mom! It is a nice day, right? (he is never happy in the morning....but today is obviously the exception)

Me: It will be a good day, Bennett. Let's get you dressed quickly--It is already 6:05 and you know we have to leave at 6:10.

Bennett: Mom?

Me: Yes, get dressed.

Bennett: No! Mommy! I need to tell you somefing portant ( which translate tosomething important)

Me: Okay, what?

Bennett: I am going to be a nice friend to Emry, I am going to play with her, I am not going to tell Emry no.

Me: That sounds like a great plan. We need to be friends with everyone at daycare.

Bennett: But, Mom?

Me: What Bennett?

Bennett: I will be nice, but I DON'T WANT TO MARRY EMRY!

Me: Okay, you don't have to marry her, you just have to be nice to her.

Bennett: It will be a nice day.

Crazy Cousins

I was going through my pictures this morning and came across this one. Every time I see it I can't stop smiling, so I thought I would share! Bennett and Peyton are just two months apart in age and have so much fun playing together--we just wish it was more often! I know my kids are hoping that Peyton and his big sis Gretchen can come spend some time with us this summer!

Love/Hate Relationships

In the past couple of days, I have realized that there are many (many, many, many) things which I have a love/hate relationship. Here are a few:

1. Mowing the lawn (worst job in the world, looks ABSOLUTELY amazing when you are finished.. almost like you want to sleep on it)

2. The kids growing up (I love that Bennett can finally get himself 90% ready in the morning, but am sad he is soon to be five)

3. Sleeping in on the weekends(feels sooooooooooooooo good, but boy it wastes a lot of time)

4. Facebook (who doesn't love stalking people that they didn't even talk to in high school? but I LOVE seeing pictures of my family and friends....but really, for two hours??)

5. Grad School (love learning, hate doing the homework)

6. Living in Sauk Rapids (miss my family like crazy--I wish we could see them more than we do, but I am not sure I could go back to non-Target, non-24 hour grocery store anytime soon)

7. New job opportunities (love the hope, hate the uncertainty)

And with that, I need to practice my interview questions. Eeeek.

Who is the Boss?

Bennett was extremely tired last night and did not want his hair washed while in the bathtub. He was talking back and I said

"Bennett you will do what I tell you to do. I am the boss of this house, do you understand?"

He replies "I have some news for you--Jesus is the boss of the world."

What do I even say?!?!??!

This weekend was filled...

with lots of love. Every time I turned around I was reminded how much my wonderful kids and husband love me....

If I had a dollar for each time I heard "I love you" this weekend I would be a millionaire.

I didn't get one, two, three, or even four Mother's Day Cards...I got ten. All but one handmade. I will be keeping all of them.

I was able to take a three hour nap on Saturday....and no one bothered me. That says love all around.

I am so lucky. So very, very lucky.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to everyone! I hope all you that are moms enjoy your special day! I don't think we have anything planned, which is just fine by me! I love getting the Mother's Day gifts that the kids make at school. Bennett made me a picture with balloons because those are my favorite thing in the world (who knew?!?!). He also had to tell a little story about me-- In his eyes I am 25, look prettiest when I take a shower, make the best pancakes, and I always say "I Love You." Larkin informed me when I dropped her off at school they were finishing up my gift today--can't wait to see what it is!

And of course, I can't forget Grandma Helen who passed away four years ago...We still miss her and talk about her all of the time...she was such a wonderful Mom and Grandma....and in honor of her I will be making brownies with sour cream frosting...yum, yum!

Procrastination

I recently had a conversation with a friend and coworker that procrastination is something that you are born to do (or not to do). The more I think about it.......the more I think we are right.

(Of course we are. How could we not be? We are teachers, and moms, and women :) )

I have ALWAYS wanted to be a person that does things right away as soon as they are assigned, but no matter how good my intentions are, everything is last minute.

Lately, about the only thing I don't procrastinate on is... I better stop right there because if I don't the sentence will become a lie.

So, here is my list of things that have been put off because of my terrible habit of procrastination--I am hoping to get them done within the next month...I will make sure to update often. :)

1. Get all pictures into one spot in my house. No not organizing at this point yet, just all into one spot. I am going to pick for that spot to be in the makeshift office we have in our basement.
2. Clean out the laundry room. It really is a terrible job, isn't it?
3. Organize Larkin's drawers. Ugh.
4. Get a pedicure! (Yay!)
5. Clean out the garage stuff that has been there since we moved in. Part of me doesn't even want to open the bags/boxes/totes and just throw, but part of me doesn't either!
6. Match up the DVDs with their cases.
7. Take all my old college text books to Goodwill. I haven't looked at them since I graduated. Why have they moved four times with me?? Plus, we are at the nine year mark. Pretty sure they are outdated.

Well, I better stop there. Now I am just sitting here thinking of other things I should do, but really can't thing of things in particular. Another procrastination moment....

I wonder if they can do hypnosis for procrastination. I will have to google that right away because it is very important.
